Yes. With the legalization of adult use cannabis, the state will increase taxes on cannabis sales at all California dispensaries and delivery services. The specific tax increase will be from 7.875% to 22.875% which is made up of 7.875 sales tax and 15% excise tax. The tax increase will start January 1, 2018. If the patient has obtained a valid Medical Marijuana Identification Card (MMIC) issued by the California and a valid gonvernement issued ID at the time of purchase the patient will only pay the 15% excise tax and will be exempt from sales tax.
